Family-friendly skiing: Kids ski free
The SCHÖNLEITN hotel village is located in the middle of the snow-covered Villach mountains – the perfect starting point for active winter days in Carinthia. The two ski areas Dreiländereck and Gerlitzen Alpe can be reached in just 20 to 30 minutes.
A SKIBUS runs daily at fixed times directly from the village and is FREE for guests.
From January 7 to February 28, 2026, families can also benefit from a FREE SKI PASS in the family-friendly Dreiländereck ski resort for children up to 15 years of age.

Ski school in the village
The Happy Ski School Dreiländereck is located directly in the SCHÖNLEITN hotel village during winter. Ski rental and ski school are therefore directly on site in the village of SCHÖNLEITN.
You can expect proven service, personal attention, and a competent ski school for beginners and advanced skiers. Course information and rental prices can be found online—book conveniently from home.
Tip: Please book ski courses and equipment before your arrival if possible, using the keyword “Schönleitn.”
Relaxation after a day of skiing
After an active winter day, the wellness facilities in the village offer relaxation: private saunas in selected suites, a panoramic sauna with views of the snow-covered winter landscape, indoor and outdoor pools, massage and beauty treatments, or simply enjoy the tranquility in the spacious and cozy relaxation rooms .
A trip to the nearby Kärnten Therme in Warmbad Villach provides soothing moments of relaxation or water fun for the whole family.
Nordic winter sports & snow fun
Cross-country skiers can start right from the hotel village and hit the trails or explore the snow-covered trails in Finkenstein, St. Jakob im Rosental, or Planica in Slovenia.
At the foot of the Dobratsch mountain lies the Villacher Alpen Arena, a modern Nordic center with a ski jump facility and floodlit cross-country ski trail.
Ski tourers will also find excellent opportunities in the region – for example, at the Dreiländereck. A special highlight: every Thursday evening, the Dreiländereck slope belongs to ski tourers, with the valley run open for free ski touring from 5:00 p.m. – a real experience for (night) sports enthusiasts.
