Skiing in winter

The SCHÖNLEITN hotel village is located in the middle of the snow-covered Villach mountains – the perfect starting point for active winter days in Carinthia. The two ski areas Dreiländereck and Gerlitzen Alpe can be reached in just 20 to 30 minutes. A ski bus runs daily at fixed times directly from the village and is free of charge for guests. Those who prefer a more leisurely approach to winter can enjoy the snow-covered countryside around the village with winter hiking, cross-country skiing or tobogganing.
How about a winter holiday right by the lake? Our Chalet ON THE LAKE offers the perfect retreat for couples or small families all year round – with a private sauna, panoramic views and direct access to the lake. Ideal for warming up after a walk in the snow and for a refreshing cool-down after the sauna.

Ski school in the village

The Happy Skischule Dreiländereck ski school, run by Chri Hanser, is located directly in the SCHÖNLEITN hotel village during the winter. Here you can expect proven service, personal attention and a competent ski school for beginners and advanced skiers. Course information and rental prices can be found online – book from the comfort of your own home.

Relaxation after a day of skiing

After an active winter day, the wellness facilities in the village ensure relaxation: private saunas in selected suites, an indoor swimming pool, massage and beauty treatments or a trip to the nearby Kärnten Therme in Warmbad Villach provide soothing moments of relaxation.

Nordic winter sports & snow fun

Cross-country skiers can start directly from the hotel village on the cross-country trail or explore the snow-covered trails in Finkenstein, St. Jakob im Rosental or Planica in Slovenia. At the foot of the Dobratsch mountain lies the Villacher Alpen Arena, a modern Nordic centre with a ski jumping facility and floodlit cross-country trail. Ski tourers will also find excellent opportunities in the region – for example, at the Dreiländereck: every Thursday evening, the slopes belong to ski tourers, with the valley run open for free ski touring from 5 p.m. – a real highlight for night-time sports enthusiasts.
